Budget relief in sight?

Abstract:
Gov. Jim Doyle called for an increase in funding for Wisconsin's higher education system last week as he made his plea to the Wisconsin Legislature to accept his 2007-09 biennial budget proposal.
"It is a plan that not only invests in the needs of all Wisconsinites, but reflects the greatest hopes and aspirations of our people," Doyle said in his budget address....

Do the math. he's going to triple financial aid but allow tuition increases of up to 4%, which you know the system will take full advantage of. It's going to cost the average family of four another $1,200 per year in taxes but he'll offer a $400 savings "for students" on their tax bill. I'd rather just save the $1,200 and give each of my children and extra $400 each. $800 total saving me $400. Most of the students don't even pay $400 in taxes. Do the math.
