I would like to thank the Spectator Editorial Board for their support, and I appreciate them taking the time to interview us. I would like to further inform readers about OpenCourseWare. The OpenCourseWare initiative will not be a burden on professors, the key to the success of OCW will be to not require any more of professors that choose to take part in the program. The $20,000 funding from the ITC budget of the Student Senate will likely take in account for a part-time person designated to enter data, be in charge of coordinating the Website, and cooperate with the ITC commission, Academic Affairs, and potentially various other non-paid service learning volunteers. The aim of the new program will be to make it easy for professors to participate if they choose to do so, not to place an unnecessary burden on them. In fact, currently I am working with Provost/Vice Chancellor Steve Tallant and the Deans to set up a ad hoc committee to inform faculty how this innovative program works, and how it actually can benefit professors, as well as bring UWEC to the forefront of the UW system in ease of access and public relations!

Hi, I noticed your comment about OpenCourseWare (OCW), and wanted to throw in our experience with it. At Utah State, we now have over 80 courses online, and have not had any problems with professors feeling like they have to dumb down their course material. In fact, many professors go through and 'improve' the materials, because they know that when they put it in OCW, the entire world will be viewing it.

OCW is a great way to showcase your school and your faculty, and let students know the good things your faculty members are doing.

Thank you for your input, we have been coordinating with the developers of educommons, Which I believe is the software that you guys use in Utah. I really appreciate the encouragement, we have been working really hard to get OCW up and running at out University. I would be interested in contacting you guys in the future since we both presumably will have the same OCW platform. It would be nice to have some more background how your university went about implementing OCW. Once again, thank you for your comment and hopefully at some point in the future we can be in contact.
