The only way that the U.S. automotive industry will be able to survive is to become more competitive. The only way tho accomplish this is Chapter 11 and restructure. Pumping money into what is in place today will only prolong the companies's death.

Bankruptcy is inevitable. The big 3 can not survive with the UAW's stranglehold on them. Those contracts need to be totally scrapped and the UAW needs a reality check. The big 3 can not eliminate lines and dealers without going bankrupt. The big 3 cars are inferior due to their high labor costs. Instead of putting money in better cars, the big 3 continued to overpay their workers and retirees. The UAW destroyed the auto industry and this should serve as a lesson to this country that unions have out lived their purpose and destroy companies. Unions are a major reason why companies have moved their operations out of the country. No company can be profitable with a contract like the UAW's.
