Student senators were encouraged to help publicize the Campus Climate survey during a special presentation Monday.
Teresa O'Halloran, assistant to the chancellor on Affirmative Action, presented information about the survey to the Senate, saying the university hopes for at least a 30 percent response rate.
O'Halloran said they're trying to get students involved by reaching out to Senate, first year experience and regular courses and student organizations.
"We're just casting as wide of a net as we possibly can because we need to get that response rate up," she said.
Student life and diversity director Daven Raj said space will be available on campus for students to take the survey
"It's very important," he said. "We want as many people to do it as possible."
Raj said he thinks the survey will help prepare the university to make sure all students feel comfortable in the school's environment.
The Campus Climate survey, which will launch Monday, Oct. 5, is a UW System initiative. UW-Eau Claire is one of four UW schools in this year's group taking the survey, O'Halloran said.
