Crowds gathered outside the State Theatre before Saturday’s Jazz Fest concert, which featured renowned jazz musicians, Doc Severinsen and Carl Allen.

Last weekend, Friday and Saturday April 21 and 22, Eau Claire hosted its 51st annual Jazz Fest.

On Friday night, a section of Barstow Street was blocked off from traffic and transformed into the historic 52nd Avenue. Here, jazz performers played their tunes until 2 a.m. at various venues and on the street.

Saturday morning, performances started early, with Wisconsin high school and middle school jazz bands playing on campus throughout the day. Also on campus were clinics such as “Improvisation for Everyone” and “How to have an efficient rhythm sectional” that were open to the public.

The final concert of the night was at 7 p.m. Saturday in the State Theatre. It featured Doc Severinsen and Carl Allen, both renowned jazz musicians.
